Today we’re welcoming Kathy McCabe to Life With Grief! Kathy is a travel expert, host, and executive producer of Dream of Italy and Dream of Europe on PBS.

Both of us have lots our parents and find ourselves kindred spirits in grief, if you will. In this heartfelt and vulnerable episode, we discuss our shared experiences of parent loss but also some really important non-traditional forms of grief.

Kathy narrates her journey with dealing with toxic mold in a past home and the physical and emotional turmoil that ensued, alongside the profound impact of losing her parents within a short span.

We chat about the importance of acknowledging and validating all forms of grief, the resilience and rediscovery of self required to move forward, and the unexpected joys that can follow profound loss.

Despite her many challenges, Kathy reflects on how her career in travel has been both a sanctuary and a source of purpose, offering healing and new relationships that mimic familial bonds. Through tearful moments and candid admissions, this episode encapsulates the complex layers of grief and the continuous quest for fulfillment and joy.
